Towards our
goal of building sustainable education for
this village

Phayong Preschool (Laos)
Open: December 2009
A project that delivers early education to a remote group of ethnic minority students.
Early childhood development is important everywhere; it opens young minds and allows them to explore the vast potentials of education. This fact is nowhere more evident that at Phayong preschool.
In Phayong the students are members of ethnic minority groups, and as such are raised speaking minority languages that bare little to no similarity with their national tongue.
The pivotal ages for them to learn their national language is from 3-5, or preschool years. If taught during these years, their chances of continuing their education greatly increases. If not, they fall behind immediately, all but ensuring an early end to their schooling.
Our favorite thing to do in Phayong is to drop in on the incredible preschool class. The students come from all different backgrounds but are uniting in this shared space to explore. To learn.
