Nambo Primary School (Laos)

This school for 1st and 2nd graders creates space for 60+ eager-to-learn students to nurture their education.

On our first visit to Nambo village, in the mountains of Phonxay district, we heard a loud bell ring at noon. After which elders, male and female, of all minorities, came walking out their homes, down the hill, and to a central meeting point.

Why? Their weekly meeting to discuss the general well-being of their village, the future of their students, and the support of their education. To us, that is promise.

Nambo, a prideful minority village, has a well-run, village-supported preschool. Their two early primary rooms, however, are old, weather-beaten, and in serious need of replacement. There simply isn’t enough space for all students to go to school.

So, together, we changed that. And now, Nambo villagers are now the proud owners of their new two-room primary school.
