Towards our
goal of building sustainable education for
this village

Na Mai Primary School (Laos)
Open: January 2011
A three room structure to house early primary students.
Na Mai may just be the most beautiful place on earth.
Its dirt paths are lined with blooming cotton flowers, and it sits in a valley surrounded by mountains. But really, these things are just the icing. It’s the people that make Na Mai what it is. They are most welcoming, warm-hearted, kind people we have ever met.
They are also some of the poorest people we have ever met. Living in a remote district, in the middle of rice paddies, their only source of income comes from harvesting the expansive miles of crops surrounding them. While this often means students have to stay home from school to help their families at work, villagers and educators have taken the first steps to change that.
They’ve independently started pooling their resources to send some of the neediest kids to school. And in partnership with PoP, they’ve gathered their building materials and labor forces to make a major change, a new school that supports early primary students.
