Towards our
goal of building sustainable education for
this village

Jok Preschool (Laos)
Open: September 2011
The young children of Jok village had never before been to preschool; this project put the 50+ littlest students in class for the first time.
The elders, educators and villages of Jok village know exactly what they need most: more lasting education and better attendance rates. And they know exactly how to achieve it: early education.
A preschool was at the front of the their minds when we met the Jok villagers. They knew that sending their children to school at a younger age would greatly increase the likelihood that they will stay in school; they will become more confident learners.
Partnering with PoP, Jok village built a one-room preschool and a one-room office for educators that doubles as a small village-supplied library. And by the time school started in Fall of 2011, they opened their doors to their newest, first-time students.
