Houy Thong Primary (Laos)

A project to maintain access to early education for Houy Thong’s 1st and 2nd graders who are too young to walk to the nearest primary school.
We’ll be honest. We were lost. Out scouting potential villages, a couple wrong turns in the mountains and everything started to look the same.
And then we found Houy Thong: A rundown shack of a classroom overfilled with 40+ students all sitting, working, listening attentively to their teacher who was actively engaging each and every child.
Their classroom was falling apart; it wouldn’t make it through another school year. Thus the PoP Houy Thong relationship began.
Every single adult in this village pitched together to prepare the materials and do the labor for their new school. And now that it’s up, every single villager is proud of this school and supports its continued success each day.
