Towards our
goal of building sustainable education for
this village

Boum Lao Primary School (Laos)
Open: September 2011
A two-room primary school that provides adequate space for the 1st and 2nd graders of Boum Lao village.
The bottom line is this: there just wasn’t enough space.
Working out of a worn wood and bamboo school built 40-years ago, these students no longer had an adequate space to call their own. There wasn’t enough room and the protection from the elements was so minimal that school would be immediately canceled when it was too hot, cold or rainy out–not exactly a path toward sustainable education.
We’re happy to say that on our first visit to Boum Lao we weren’t asked for a single thing–there was no question of how much money we could give or materials we could provide. The first bits of conversation were villagers asking what they can do. How they can help get their students a better, more lasting education.
Now that is a road towards sustainable education.
