Towards our
goal of building sustainable education for
this village

Pak Seung Preschool (Laos)
Broke Ground: October 2011
A one-room preschool that will create more space for the village’s youngest students.
When our team was out looking for new school sites, we found Pak Seung by chance. What tipped us off? A flood of children running down the hill, clutching backpacks and school supplies, eager to get back to school. Their expressions said it all: this place is serious (and excited) about its education.
Ban Pak Seung sits near the turnoff to six other PoP schools at the top of a river bank. The villagers make their living as farmers and fishermen. And, it turns out, they also spend their time being big supporters of education. The already existent primary school boasts very high enrollment and progression rates, and when we talked to them about increasing space for their preschoolers, they couldn’t wait to get started.
One of the things we are most excited about in Pak Seung is entering the community as a whole. With our growing SHINE and sister school programs, we are confident this is going to be a great village partnership.
