Written by: Team PoP December 15th, 2011
Ruth Madahi Juracan Rosales is PoP Guatemala’s newest SHINE coordinator. She brings to the office many laughs and plenty of enthusiasm for making change. At university, Ruth studied psychology, and in addition to her job at Pencils of Promise, she works in a clinic in Panajachel, where she was born, and gives guidance classes to groups of all ages. For Ruth, defending the rights of women and children is of the utmost importance. She loves her work! Ruth is a helper at heart. Her Mayan sign is “E,” which signifies that she is someone who guides and gives light to other people. She is also passionate about traveling to meet different kinds of people and to see different cultures.
Ever since she was a little girl, Ruth has always enjoyed watching TV, running and playing sports. She’s very social, and loves to laugh, and has “killer” dimples when she smiles. But above all, Ruth loves nothing more than swimming. She says, “I love the water!”
