MARLON ALVARADO
Written by: Team PoP December 15th, 2011
Marlon Alvarado is 27 years old and prides himself for his loyalty above all else. He likes to help people and expects nothing in return. People often say that he looks angry, but this is merely his natural expression. In fact, Marlon is extremely friendly and quite funny. His greatest passion, besides working for PoP, is his music. He believes it has changed his life and kept him out of trouble during his younger days. His life goal is to learn how to play as many instruments as he possibly can. He currently works Friday nights at Panajachel’s premier Italian restaurant as a keyboard player in the house band.
Marlon comes from very humble beginnings and has had to work hard for everything he has. His motto is, “There is nothing in this life I can’t achieve. As long as there is someone to teach me how to do it, I can do it.” As a Pencils of Promise Regional Coordinator, Marlon hopes to give back some of the opportunities that were afforded to him growing up. His plan is to help the people of Guatemala and live a happy life.
