EDWIN COSME DE LEON
Written by: Team PoP December 15th, 2011
Edwin Cosme de Leon was born October 31st, 1982 and has lived in Panajachel with his grandparents ever since. He is a shy person by nature and takes his work very seriously, but tries his best to be funny. Edwin comes from an indigenous Mayan family that has instilled many values in him. A friendly disposition and respect for humanity and nature are his two most important principles.
Edwin has had many jobs. He’s worked as an assistant mason, painter, and before becoming the construction manager for Pencils of Promise in Guatemala, an art teacher. His favorite part about working for PoP is that he has been given the opportunity to meet and help people in rural communities. When Edwin is not working for PoP, he spends his free time either painting or working with a small environmental organization he founded with a group of friends several years ago.
