At the PoP Gala, we asked our attendees about their hopes for a generation empowered. With those responses, our friends at AgencyNet put an amazing interactive Quilt of Promises together. Thank you to all who continually inspire us and who contributed to the success of our first Pencils of Promise Gala. If you haven’t seen our [...]
The following entry was a collaborative response, written by PoP team members Matt Dominici, Bethant Brichta, Adam Tichauer, Stephanie Dang, Danielle Keen, Rebecca Sholitan, and Veronica Fischmann, to the great job all of our PoP supporters did in helping our Muti City Challenge become such a great success! It was an impossible idea: to have [...]
By: Jam Derrick (far right in picture) About two months ago, I discovered Pencils of Promise, a movement that understands the power of education and dedicates itself to creating educational opportunities for all. As an architecture student and burgeoning self-professed lover of the world, I immediately realized that this movement was something that I really wanted- no, needed- [...]
On November 13th, 2010, Pencils of Promise is having its first ever Multi-City Event Challenge! Individuals and other groups outside of the 7 cities hosted by Pencils of Promise are asked to join in [...]
On November 3, we are proud to announce that there will be a HUGE benefit concert for PoP at the Irving Plaza in NYC!
Sonia Lasdon, one of our awesome Pencils of Promise interns for the summer, shares her thoughts and feelings about organizing a walk to support Pencils of Promise.
This summer we dedicated 80% of our office space to empowering a team of high school interns. They have become the backbone of the PoP Movement, as exemplified by their “Village Rally” at this year’s Summer White Party. Rockstar intern Angelica Jarvenpaa shares a funny story from her night.
The success of this year’s Summer White Party at The Hudson Terrace was apparent to all guests and the volunteer “stars” that put on the event. It was impossible not to notice the overwhelming support from a sold out crowd of over 400 guests who showed up in their best whites. From creative costumes to those dressed to impress, the crowd was in the most colorful white attire I had ever seen. Before the event, I thought last year’s Summer White Party would be tough to outshine, but we did it this year. Thanks to everyone who came out!
