It has been an amazing year for Pencils of Promise! We have completed building 40 schools and we have more on the way. At the onset of this promising new year, we wanted to take the time to reflect on just five of the many unforgettable moments we’ve had during 2011!

Seeing is believing: My first trip to Laos.

It’s impossible to understand the Lao people until you meet them. They are hardworking and content. This is their life, and they are happy to be here and enjoy it as often as possible with family and friends. The children, complete with runny noses, dirty clothes and big smiles, light up every room in which they sit. They will crush your heart with cuteness, and pictures cannot do them justice.

Pencils of Promise is proud to announce the completion of our 1st school in Nicaragua with partner organization Seeds of Learning! We are now opening up spots on 10-day volunteer build trips this summer, where you will spend time building new schools alongside the amazing communities of San Ramon and Agua Fria in the highlands of Nicaragua.
